Open Role:

Public Affairs Junior Consultant/Consultant

POSITION DETAILS

  • Location: Brussels
  • Type of contract: 1 year with possibility for fixed contract

  • Starting date: January 2026

Ohana Public Affairs, a Brussels-based boutique public affairs consultancy, is looking for a Junior Public Affairs Consultant or a Consultant with expertise in one or several of the following spheres: traceability, product information systems such as digital product passport, digitalisation or marketing claims. The role will support our clients across multiple sectors including textiles and agri-food on public affairs and to prepare for implementation.  

The role is embedded in the Transparency and Supply Chains team and will work in close collaboration with members of Circularity team. The Consultant will perform a wide range of public affairs activities for clients ranging from brands and suppliers to industry standards, government stakeholders and NGOs. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for a (Junior) Public Affairs Consultant who will focus on public affairs around EU sustainability-related initiatives, with a focus on the traceability, transparency, and digitalisation. Digital Product Passport under the Eco-design for Sustainable Products Regulation, EU Deforestation Regulation, labelling initiatives, and laws regulating customer facing marketing claims will be among the EU initiatives included into the portfolio of the (Junior) Public Affairs Consultant.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • With support of other team members developing and implementing public affairs strategies related to the legislative initiatives in the Consultant’s portfolio
  • Monitoring EU developments and delivering up-to-date intelligence 
  • Undertaking research and drafting policy briefs 
  • Delivering clear, precise and client-driven analysis and advice 
  • Advising clients on public affairs and regulatory implementation support
  • Liaising with European institutions and other stakeholders 
  • Managing day to day client relationships  
  • Supporting the development of new business  
  • Contributing to the preparation of communications materials, position papers and stakeholder outreach programmes
  • Contributing to Ohana’s mission of driving change through awareness-raising with blog articles 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1-2 year- (for Junior Consultant) and 2-4-year- (for Consultant) work experience in traceability or digitalisation focused role in a company, consultancy, solution provider, NGO, the EU Institutions or industry associations.
  • Practical experience with product information systems relevant for the development and implementation of the EU’s digital product passport will be a plus
  • Thorough understanding of EU policy making process and institutions 
  • Experience with advising clients is not necessary, but will be an advantage
  • Experience from an industry that has adopted digital product information systems and the knowledge of the EU legislation around marketing claims is a plus
  • Entrepreneurial mind-set 
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise, meet tight deadlines, manage multiple projects, and maintain attention to detail 
  • Advanced social skills to interact and engage with a diverse range of policy stakeholders 
  • Excellent English language skills (speaking, writing, presenting) – additional languages are a plus 
  • Applicants must be eligible to work in Belgium.
